Because we decided yesterday that we needed to take a day off from hiking, we hiked today…
This time we only ended up hiking 65 stories up and then back down, so a light day overall. Though to give some more perspective on the ridiculous climb yesterday, our total steps were just at 10k yesterday with 92 stories up and back down. Today, we had 17k steps with the 65 stories. Yesterday was just straight up and down.
Today’s hike was the Mostnice Gorge and then up towards Triglav peak (the highest peak in Slovenia) stopping at the first mountain hut on the path to the peak. The goal was to get the hut and have their popular goulash, but sadly, they didn’t make it today, so we had to settle for some sausage bean soup and apple pie strudel. The view for lunch was perfect too.

The hike around the gorge was gorgeous, but definitely wearing on our legs. Only one mishap with Kevin trying to slide into the water ending up crashing down and landing on his hip. Luckily he was wearing the backpack, so that shielded his back and honestly probably his head from smacking the rocks. He hit hard, cause it drew the attention of nearby hikers who came running over to make sure he was okay too.

As we headed back to the car, we hung out with some cows and bebieeees. And then wandered over to Bohninj Lake, which is very similar to the famous Lake Bled, but much more low key.

It continues to be warmer than we planned, so in the words of Kate from Lizzie McGuire, we are ‘outfit repeaters!’ and have done laundry twice now already since we only packed 2 short-sleeve shirts and 2 light pants. So if you see the same clothes, no you didn’t.
Off to bed for an early morning with Kevin icing his hip.
