Being on the West Coast, we have been trying to visit some of the places that have been on our list, but logistically were longer and more difficult to navigate. Hawaii has been on the list for a while, and this was also one that we figured would be an easy long weekend that wouldn’t require much planning (literally no planning went into this, other than finding a place to stay). When we boarded the flight, I didn’t even know how we were getting to said hotel until halfway through the flight (thank you to Hawaii Airlines for having free internet for every passenger, along with serving a meal on every leg no matter the length of the flight).

A six hour direct flight and we arrived in Oah’u just in time for rush hour traffic for our Uber driver to navigate a 25 minute drive turning into over an hour long.
Checked into our hotel with a partial ocean view, and started looking at restaurant options for a pretty early dinner since our brains think it’s later.
Again no research beforehand, and I was surprised at how Waikiki felt almost more like we were in Asia than in the US, which turned out to be a learning experience for me throughout this week.
We settled on a Noi Thai which had decent reviews. When ordering, we had some sticker shock around the price of the food, and after we had eaten, it was literally worth every single penny. I could have licked my plate clean; it was so good. Crispy Garlic Chicken and Cashew Chicken for the absolute win.

As we were walking back to the hotel, we stumbled upon a ukulele store, so we had to wander in, of course. I have been searching for a pineapple ukulele for years, and after leaving that shop, I had a bad feeling, I was gonna spend too much money on a Hawaiian made one before the end of this trip..
Off to the beach to watch the sunset and a bit early to bed. I just returned from the East Coast a couple of days ago and the prior week I was in the Midwest, and so my brain really has no idea what timezone I’m in. But it does know, I’m tired.
