When you are part of the Oregon Trail Generation and decide to relive the thrill... we are moving to the West Coast!
Why you ask? We have struggled transitioning back to the Midwest after being in Wales for three years -- missing the mountains and water and overall feeling. So we've been searching for our next home base (to be determined if that means temporary or permanent). Coupled with our pursuit of Italian citizenship, we have an appointment at the Italian San Francisco consulate in a couple years to submit proof of citizenship and hopefully be awarded an italian passport allowing us the opportunity to then move to Italy on a permanent basis -- so gotta be on the West Coast.
We decided that driving a moving truck 2,600 miles across the US was not ideal, or cost effective so one 16 foot Pod later....
Our stuff --
The plan was "if it fits, it ships". RIP kitchen island, grill and dining set. Nothing like selling items less than 12 hours before the road trip begins on Facebook marketplace.
Also nothing like throwing random items in the car that didn't make it in a box -- notable items: a million pens, random glass bowl, and a rubber mallet. Of course, we also have all the things we actually needed in the car. Clothes, computers, car Legos -- you know, the necessities. Oh and a tub of "things we would be sad to lose" -- featuring a great, great grandmother's cookbook, childhood doll, a bracelet that belonged to my late friend Carolyn and some other random items.
Tomorrow will be used to consolidate all this stuff and pack it in a reasonable manner to fit in the car. And of course, to spend time with our Mama's before the wagon departs.
